Thanksgiving is always my favorite holiday of the year! There is no stress to be anywhere, buy anything, or dress fancy… you just show up, enjoy family, and eat good food!! Every year my mom goes above and beyond the call of duty with her Martha Stewart-esque abilities to cook and decorate like nobody’s business. If you were a fly on the wall a week leading up to turkey day, you’d see she was baking homemade apple and cherry pies, cookies, lemon bars, brownies, oh my! A master at planning ahead, she already prepared breakfast quiches, bacon and ham casseroles, and coffee cake to satisfy all the family during our stay. That doesn’t even scratch the surface for all the prep work she did for the actual Thanksgiving feast!!! I’m talkin’ homemade buns, cranberry sauce, stuffing, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and of course the turkey!! She has a talent for what she can do and of course we all enjoy the end results. 🙂
After we became more stuffed than the turkey itself, we took a stroll through the woods in homage to my late step-dad who passed in 2014. He used to take us through this trail after Thanksgiving dinner on a tractor hay ride, so it was nice to feel his presence there and maintain our tradition.
Hope you all enjoyed creating memories with your friends and family this past week!
